Cake Art Display at the Bakery Fair (Part 3)

Like visual arts, cake decorating is also considered a form of art and it falls under culinary arts. Through the years, its process advances with the help of new techniques, tools and baking equipment. For me, cakes are like 3-dimensional painting masterpieces because nowadays each piece is crafted beautifully and becoming more colorful and delightful to almost everyone.

At the Bakery Fair, I realized one thing that I have not realized before. When I saw some demonstrations here on how to decorate a cake, I was amazed how intricate and delicate the process was. It took them an hour or maybe more to finish decorating a big piece. I know it would never be so easy since you need to think of an idea before you make a move, choose the right combination of colors and maybe think of some details that you might want to include. And sometimes they were just made as product of the baker's creativity.

When it comes to the science of cake decoration, today's event would be beneficial to all baking enthusiast. For over hundreds of visitors per day, I was fortunate to be given a chance to see and witness the different designs of beautifully crafted cakes competing to be the best among the rest at the Bakery Fair Cake Art Display Competition.

Here are the competitors:

And the Winner:

Still with Best friend Ep, we enjoyed "small" things here too. I can't imagine myself eating these little cakes. I maybe just want to bring them home and keep it on my fridge to preserve it. Ha-ha!

Angry Birds inspired cakes

On my entire experience here, this is the most amazing thing that I saw. Though I have not tasted any of the cakes at all, I have learned from just merely observing it. I started to appreciate this form of art that some people may just ignoring. I appreciate the time consuming process and how they come up with these designs. Everything was amazing!

Of course, I want to thank Bakery Fair Philippines 2013 for accepting my pre-registration as a blogger to attend this event for FREE!

From What Michael Likes, THANK YOU, BAKERY FAIR!!
This simple joy and amazing experience you have given me is really worth remembering and worth sharing.

Bakery Fair Philippines 2013—Here I Come! (Part 2)

Since the goal of the BAKERY FAIR PHILIPPINES 2013  (read Part 1 here)  is to improve the baking and food service industry in the country, equipment, tools and baking materials were being showcased in this large-scale event. In addition, it also aims to provide updated information on baking technology on upcoming trends and advances.

Still at the World Trade Center, a huge number of exhibitors from big baking companies are really proud to sell their quality equipment and baking products to these curious baking enthusiast and visitors like us. Corporations and companies like: Sonlie International, Lowtemp Corporation, Philippine Foodservice Equipment and Supplies Corp, Sinmag Bakery Machine Corp, Handyware Philippines, Inc and some others are all gathered in columns and rows to showcase what they have.

There’s one thing here that captured my interest too, other than these advance equipment. As we roam around the area, numerous demonstrations and seminars are currently being held where new baking techniques, methods and styles can be learned.

Using just an ample amount of whipping cream, these fascinating exhibitors never fail to amaze the audience with their magnificent cake art.

But that is not the ending of our visit to the fair, we still have to see the amazing Cakefest Competition.

Bakery Fair Philippines 2013—Here I Come! (Part 1)

I couldn't just believe that I am here today. I have mixed emotions actuallyhappy because it's going to be my first time to attend an event like this; nervous because I'm no longer that ordinary Michael that would just take pictures and upload it to Facebook aiming to gather lots of "Likes". I'm a blogger now (Why I blog?) and I aim to capture this precious moments to share it with you, to bring it right on top of your table to satisfy your visual needs hoping that by this way, I will be able to let you experience the entire event as if you are having a virtual tour... And that's the only thing 'What Michael Likes' can assure.

With my fully-charged Samsung WB150F camera and my ever supportive and cooperative Best Friend Ep, we are here at the BAKERY FAIR PHILIPPINES 2013, the 7th International Exhibition on Bakery, Confectionery, and Food Service Equipment and Supplies.

Again with Best friend Ep

Opened on Thursday, February 21, 2013, this fair is located at World Trade Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila Philippines. This fair was organized by the Filipino-Chinese Association Inc. along with its members and industry alliances. It's a non-profit event that promotes and aims to provide helpful forums and networking  among buyers, retailers and suppliers of baking needs and equipment. It serves as a ground for knowledge-sharing on products and what's new on the baking industry.

For more than 400 showcasing booths, attendees are able to do a lot of business transactions here. It's a good time to avail big discounts in buying baking equipment, tools, products and ingredients too!

Occupying a space of 10,000 square meters, there would be a lot of things to do here. As a visitor, I couldn't help but be amazed and be surprised  by all the things being exhibited.

Saturday Fun at the Salcedo Market

Best Friend Ep: Today, I'm gonna take you to Salcedo Market?

Michael: To a market? (I smiled with sarcasm)

Best Friend Ep: So you haven't heard about Salcedo Market yet? It's the 'sosyal' marketplace as they call it. It's the market for the 'upper class'.

Michael: Oh, that's new. For the upper class...

Best Friend Ep: It could be new to you maybe, but I'm sure you're not gonna let your camera down for this because every corner of this market is so much bloggable.

Michael: I'm so excited! C'mon and take me there then.

So we reached Salcedo Market at around 10AM from Eastwood. This place is situated at Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City, Philippines and opens only on Saturdays from 7 AM to 2 PM. Known to be a "high-end"  marketplace since it offers goods with higher value than any other usual market, I can say that you are still getting what you have paid for since most of their products meet the highest quality standards.

When I think about marketplaces, I just think about of going there to buy meat or vegetables that I could keep on my fridge for days. I go there, spend half and hour maybe and then go home and that's it.

But Salcedo Market is far from what I expected. This is the only time when I felt that a marketplace could be fun too! I must say that this is one of the most unforgettable market experiences that I had.

Thanks to Best Friend Ep who took me here!

Now, join us and let's have a quick tour on this amazing marketplace...

More fruits too!

And a lot more. So lets continue walking...

Jaq's Kitchen - they sell unique taste-bud satisfying sauces and dips

This guy is from the 'Ministry of Mushroom'. He sells mushrooms of any kind and mushroom-based products too. I had the chance to taste their unique mushroom burger!

Japanese Cakes

This place is really amazing! The pictures have already spoken on my behalf. What else can I say? I believe that we might have just the same thing in mind now about this place.

For me, this is the most beautiful marketplace I ever seen.
