Shop 'Till You Drop in Mong Kok

If you ask the locals or some of the Filipinos that you might meet around Hong Kong regarding a cheaper place to shop, they're not going to recommend you to visit any marketplace nearby. Surely, Mong Kok would be on the number one spot on their list.

It was 6 PM when we arrived at the Ladies Market here in Mong Kok from Hong Kong Disneyland

It's easy to get here:

By taking the MTR from Disneyland, alight at Sunny Bay Station. From there, take another train to Lai King via Tung Chung Line. Alight at Lai King Interchange Station. Take another train to Mong Kok via Tsuen Wan Line. Once arrived, exit at E2 and walk 2 blocks to Nelson Street.

If you love Divisoria here in the Philippines, Mong Kok would be it's Hong Kong version. You can always find cheap clothing, jeans, T-shirt (with "I love HK" prints) souvenirs like fridge magnets, key chains, iPad/iPhone protective cases, jewelry, bags, shoes, Chinese candies and delicacies ... Everything that a shopaholic is looking for is here, all in cheaper price. Do not forget to always barter on the price!

Here are some of the pictures that I want to share and wouldn't want you to miss:

I found this disabled man pulling himself and sliding his way down the isle of the Ladies Market

If you want to try real exquisite Chinese cuisine, plan your dinner at Mong Kok.

What to try in Mong Kok?

Beef with tomatoes, eggs and rice

Soya Milk

This place does not only offers shopping and a whole bunch of Chinese food. In this area, you will see some folks performing along the streets. Some do street dancing, owning the streets as their dance floor. Some do singing and performing a list of songs. There was this guy here that amazed me as he belted Bryan Adams, "Everything I do" song.

I don't really know what they do and sell but these two women just caught my attention as we walked around the area that night:

I hope this experience have convinced you to put Mong Kong on your Hong Kong itinerary (if you are planning to visit HK). It's a busy and really a crowded place, but I'm sure you'll enjoy almost everything here!
